iPad, iWill: Help Our Room Complete Their Technology Center

Help me give my students the gift of technology! iPads will help reinforce positive behavior and will give my nonverbal students the ability to become fully engaged in class lessons and activities.

My Students

I am so fortunate to work with a group of students who are unique and special in many different ways. I work with special needs students in kindergarten through second grade. All of my students require full-time special education support in order to help increase their skills in each area of development. Most of my students are nonverbal and have behavior challenges. We are located in a public, inner-city school in a high-poverty neighborhood where students receive free breakfast and lunch every day. My goal is to create an engaging environment that meets the unique needs of all of my students! Thank you for taking the time to learn about the amazing students who I work with!

My Project

My students require engaging activities to keep them interested and motivated to learn. Thanks to some amazing donors last year, I was able to get iPads, cases, and headphones for each of my students. This year, I will have the same students I had last year, as well as several new students. Because of the new students I will be gaining, I will no longer have enough iPads for all of my students. All of my students are special needs and many are nonverbal. Technology makes it possible to meet my students' unique learning needs and promotes effective communication. My students are not yet able to work independently on teacher given tasks. My students are all working on different skills so I have to work with each student individually. The iPads I received last year made it possible to individualize instruction for each of my students during independent work activities. The iPads also helped my nonverbal students to communicate with me and their classmates. After seeing how much my students improved after I received the iPads last year, I would love to provide those same opportunities for my new students. Being able to provide iPads to my new students will positively impact my class so much because they will help to ensure that each and every one of my students is working towards their highest potential.

I am also asking for protective cases to make sure that these iPads last as long as possible, and headphones to help my students focus on.
