This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in a Title I school. We have limited funding for technology. Currently, my students do not have access to any computers within our classroom except for my teacher laptop which is used for projecting lessons on the Smart Board.
My students are all Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
All of them come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school is a Title I school with limited funding for technology. My students are expected to compete with today's advanced technological world but are unable to do so without having access to some sort of technology. My students are visual, hands-on learners that would greatly benefit from having access to an iPad.
My Project
My students will be able to access various applications and the Internet to help further their education. They will be able to independently use the iPad to review skills previously taught and to explore ideas that interest them. They will learn to use technology so as to compare with students from more affluent backgrounds.
They will have access to technology just like other students.
For many of them this will be their only opportunity throughout the day to access this kind of technology. It will foster their independence in learning.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
