I teach 210 amazing second, third, and fourth grade girls on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Many of my students are English language learners and children with special needs. Most qualify for free and reduced price lunch. All of my students are creative, thoughtful, and eager learners, and much of their scientific knowledge this year will come from inquiry and research. It has been so exciting to see them fully engaged, each day, as they learn through collaboration and exploration with their peers.
My Project
My students enjoy learning with iPads and computer programs because they gain empowering skills at their own pace. They have very limited resources and need exciting and innovative ways to get them interested in STEM. By having access to an iPad, they will get to explore the world outside of the classroom.
By using the iPad, the students will have access to greater STEM content, by being able to work on simulation labs.
The students in my classroom feel very comfortable with technology so I'd like to give them the opportunity to excel using the tools they know best.
