iPad for Second Grade

My students need an iPad to practice math, reading, writing, and technology skills.

My Students

I am a second grade teacher in Pennsylvania. My classroom is made up of 30 eager second graders. I also have a wide range of reading and math abilities in my classroom. I am the teacher with the ESL friendly classroom. My reading levels range from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade. It's important that I read with these children every day in order to get them on grade level by the end of the year. Many of my students get free or reduced price lunch.

My Project

This requested iPad will help my students access information and learn new skills not currently available to them due to outdated technology. This will also provide individualized instruction where the students are tested weekly by growth in their skills and what they are struggling on. Many of the students in my classroom are reading below grade level and need research-based interventions, such as Lexia. This will help reach their grade level. Many of my students also struggle with math, and the iPads will allow my students to receive math-based interventions. This will also help with their deficiencies and the basic skills they are missing. Writing can also be done on the iPads where students gets to practice in a different way, not just with pencil and paper. My ELL students will be able to see pictures and match them with words. The words will be repeated many times so these children can get extra practice. They also will be able to trace the words with their fingers.

These students deserve the world.

They are so sweet and kind and would do anything for their teacher. My second graders will be able to read, write, and become better mathematicians with these new iPads. Please consider my project and help us get closer to the reading, math, and writing levels where we should be. This means the world to me. These children are our future leaders and need an extra push from technology. Thank you for taking the time to read this and considering my classroom.
