My students need an iPad for research projects within the classroom, and a screen protector and case for the iPad to keep it safe while it's in their hands.
Our 3rd grade classroom is an extremely active place, full of inquisitive minds. The reading and writing curriculum is centered around our social studies curriculum, Countries Around the World. This year we will be learning about the geography, people, and history in China, Italy, Brazil, and Egypt.
My students are highly motivated and curious children.
They arrive daily with questions about their community and the world around them. Unfortunately, we only have one laptop in the classroom which is primarily used by the teacher. Our school currently has a computer lab, but it is very difficult to get a significant amount of time in there. Having an iPad in the room would allow students to indulge in their curiosity and learn with the help of technology.
My Project
The majority of my students are quite tech savvy, but they do not have the immediate access to computers or tablets within the classroom. My goal is to provide them with an iPad, case, and screen protector, which they can use for group projects and research. In addition to this, the iPad is a great tool for enriching students who understand lessons, and for students who require additional, visual support for understanding.
Donations for this project will provide my students with the ability to work, individually or in groups, to research and learn throughout the school day, without having to leave the classroom.
Educational sites and apps will also help enrich the students who are ready for more difficult material as well as the students who require more support and visual aids. This iPad will not only be used as a tool in the classroom, but it will be building their independence as learners.
