This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My second grade class works hard to grow and learn throughout the year. No matter how hard they work it is always a challenge getting them ready for third grade. As an educator I need to make sure I am doing my part by keeping up with technology as well.
My students are second graders at a Title 1 public school in a suburb north of Los Angeles.
They come from very diverse socioeconomic and multicultural backgrounds. Yet despite their differences they have created a wonderful learning community. They support each other through the learning process and are thoughtful and caring in hopes to make sure everyone will succeed.
We were not one of the lucky LAUSD schools that got an iPad for every child. While that would be a dream, it would be nice to just have one to help with the necessary assessments, expedite tasks in the classroom, and engage learning. We are trying to slowly grow our technology but it seems that by the time we have saved the funds for a purchase newer technology is already in existence. It would be nice, for once, to be ahead of that.
My Project
This ipad will assist with professional development meetings. The majority of district trainings Common Core Language Arts, Common Core Math, and Science require an ipad or laptop to access the curriculum and files that they are training us with. It is required to assess the students reading levels using dibels and TRC. In addition the majority of our classroom programs now contain online components such as Symbaloo. The ipad will help access vital curriculum for my classroom. I can access other districts websites to keep up with the latest programs such as CGI and EngageNY.
An ipad would also allow me to continue to grow as an educator so that I am able to provide the best program I can. I will be able to research and access the most current and up to date methods for teaching and to brainstorm and share ideas with others around the country.
I plan to purchase an iPad.
This is to use at my professional development trainings and in the classroom. Technology is so important in the classroom. An iPad will enhance and enrich the overall learning experience for my students. There are so many resources and supports available online. An iPad will allow me to access more materials to provide a better program for my students.
