My students need a iPad with case and protection plan to help me establish a "listening center" for students that could serve a variety of purposes in a multilingual classroom.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In our English language learners (ELL) classroom, my students are constantly striving to acquire language as they develop their literacy skills. Technology can provide students with an edge and help them fall in love with reading, in both English and their native language! My students predominantly speak Spanish, and some have been in the United States for less than a year. They are eager to learn and excited for anything that I bring into the classroom. As a Title One school, they have little exposure to technology used for learning.
My Project
Having an iPad solely dedicated for this listening center would be extremely helpful. For students who struggle to read grade level text in their second language, listening to audio versions or online versions of books on sites such as Tumblebooks can be a powerful equalizer, creating access to text that is cognitively at students' level, even if students would struggle to read this text independently. Repeated listening can help students build fluency. In turn, access to more challenging text can support students' writing, as well. Lastly, an iPad would allow us to access many Spanish books online to augment the resources available in our library.
