Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
When we left school on that fated Friday afternoon I never could've imagined how much our lives would change. Many of my students have loss grandparents and other family members to COVID 19 and many of their parents saw themselves affected by this terrible virus. Yet, they are trying so hard to continue learning.
My class is made of hard working third graders who crave a sense of normalcy through these hard times.
We meet every morning for 2 hours through Google Meet and I try my hardest to keep them entertained, engaged and most importantly learning.
My Project
For math lessons to be successful, they need to be engaging, visual, and hands-on for students. In the classroom, students had manipulatives, process charts and games to support their learning. During distance learning, it has been challenging to show students for example, how to color code and solve word problems step by step, determine equivalent fractions, and use graphs to interpret and represent data without the necessary tools.
Through the iPad, I will be able to provide quality virtual live lessons during our daily meetings and interactive support during our small group conferences.
In addition, this tool will allow me to create engaging instructional videos and games students can use at home to continue their education. Students will receive better teacher-created activities to reinforce math skills.
With your support, the iPad will allow me to have the technology I need at home to provide my students with the best educational experience during distance learning. My current third graders will access and engage in activities as I share them online. My future students will complete interactive lessons when we return to the classroom.
