iPad Equals iCan 2.0

My students need an iPad to continue expanding our use of technology in the classroom. We are working on utilizing apps for natural exploration and eventually I would like to have a classroom set.

My Students

I teach in an urban school with a diverse student population. Our school includes gifted, advanced, honors, traditional, and occupational educational programs. Our students are both hearing and deaf. It could be said that our school truly encompasses every denomination of every category out there.

It may be said that our students are so special because they are so diverse.

I am proud to be a graduate of our incredible school, which only makes we want to work harder. Our population is made up of students who come from a truly diverse background; some parents work for FedEx and St Jude, and others are working 2-3 jobs just trying to keep everything together.

In our school we have students who work after school jobs and some who do not. Everything we do is about coming together as Spartans. That is something I am always proud of. It doesn't matter what the students are doing; they tend to come together well to support each other.

My Project

I have 1 iPad in my classroom for student use. I am working on building a classroom set to allow them to utilize great apps and online resources as much as possible. Eventually I would like to have a classroom set of iPads to make it possible for all of my students to access and use great resources at the same time.

The world beyond my classroom has so much more for my students to learn, this gives them only a window into that world.

As I move forward in my teaching, I find that the effective use of great real-world technology creates the most access in the classroom.
