This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love using technology to enhance their literacy and math skills!
Our school utilizes a literacy and math intervention program called I-Ready that supports and enhances literacy and mathematical knowledge base by providing the students with individualized instruction and practice opportunities.
I-Ready Reading and Math allows the students to complete work that is on their level, and they can progress through the program as needed. I have 25 hard-working and inquisitive students who would benefit from this iPad. We are a Title I school and all students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students do not have computers and/or Internet access at home, and as a result do not have access to technology other than what they use at school. My students do not take a technology class, and the several desktop computers we have for student use in the classroom are outdated and oftentimes do not work.
My Project
This iPad will be used daily during small-group instruction to ensure that each and every student has the opportunity to gain more experience using technology while at the same time improving their literacy and math skills on I-Ready. I have several students with IEPs and several ELL students who would benefit from having more individualized and appropriate leveled material. Additionally, I have several students exceeding grade level expectations who would benefit from more challenging and rigorous work.
This project will benefit my students in numerous ways.
The iPad will allow me to better meet the needs of my students by allowing me to give them the individualized attention they need and deserve. Additionally this project will allow my students to gain skills working with technology; a critical skill in the world we live in today.
