This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a kindergarten teacher in an urban community. My students are very diverse in their ethnic, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds. They are also very diverse in their educational experiences. Many of my students have never been to school before.
The one thing they all have in common is their eagerness to learn!
Every day my students come to school with smiles on their faces. With all the challenges they face both in and out of school, they come ready to learn and "do work they are proud of!"
My Project
I am teaching my students to become confident and proficient using computers and iPads. I am requesting a storage charging station for our classroom. We work in centers for reading and math and the iPads are used several times during the day. Having students get the iPads out of their charging location, along with the pair of headphones, has become a difficult process.
The iPad center would begin in a more timely matter if they were organized in a central and safe location.
Students will be able to go to the charging station and take an iPad to their center. The cords won't be tangled, so the students will be able to get to work right away. Each iPad will have its own slot so that the cleanup will not take very long. This storage station will enrich our days by making it easier to manage our iPad center. It will free up some of my time so that I can continue working with students.
