Technology can help emerging and struggling reading by increasing interest and motivation, providing multimedia options, providing embedded supports and providing enhanced ways for students to interact and connect to text.
My goal is to provide a technology based reading center to allow students who are otherwise unable to access reading supports specifically built to meet them where they are at in their reading journey.
By building a technology based reading center, students will be able to independently practice skills they have learned during our one to one and small group instruction times.
Students at my school are energetic, loving and hungry for learning! Despite the social economic hardships most of these students face daily, they come to school eager to learn. The iPad will support 78 students who have learning disabilities and/or are currently below grade level in reading to build their literacy skills. The students will be excited to show off what they have learned!
