My Students
My students love using technology to practice math! We use apps such as IXL, kahoot, & quizziz often in the classroom. Unfortunately, the ipads we have available to use all the time in the classroom don’t have cases. They can easily fall and break without the protection of a case. Additionally, it would be nice for students to be able to stand the ipad up on their desk so they can write in their notebooks at the same time.
I have three groups of students that I teach math to daily.
They are all very kind, sweet individuals who love to help each other and work together. They are eager to learn and want to do as well as they can. They are all of mixed abilities when it comes to math. I have English language learners, students with learning disabilities, & students who are on and below grade level. All of my students have different learning needs in the classroom. Having technology helps to differentiate activities and meet them where they’re at. It also allows them to monitor their own progress and get constant feedback on how they are doing.
My Project
Technology is an important tool in the math classroom. It allows me to differentiate instruction, especially when I am the only teacher in the room. Being able to use technology almost daily without fear of damaging the ipads is vital to our classroom. Having these cases will allow me to easily set up a station where students are independently working on work problem sets that are tailored towards their needs. Allowing them more opportunities to work online will help give them more constant, individualized feedback on how they are doing and what they still need to work on. My kids crave this consistent feedback! They love knowing how they are doing and getting immediate tips on how to improve for next time. This especially helps to engage them more in their work and also serves as a great tool for me to see where they still need help. Having these cases will help make my use of technology more consistent and easier to implement as a routine within my classroom.
