This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My special need students come to school everyday ready to learn! Being that they have special needs, we do not only focus on academics, we also focus on helping them regulate their emotions. We strive to create an environment where they can have all of their academic and social needs met. This could mean that on hard days, they have a safe space where they can unwind and recollect themselves, and thus have special equipment that can help them do so.
My students are from different backgrounds and enjoy coming to school where our classroom is a safe haven.
For students on the spectrum, having clear and defined spaces in a classroom allows them to know and learn classroom expectations and thus follow their daily schedule with greater ease. Our classroom may not be the most beautiful, yet we strive for it to be the most functional and accommodating to our students.
