My Project
As an art teacher, I have a specific, yet ever present challenge....Students do not think that my content is important! Far too often, students remind me how uninterested they are, or how they do not believe that the arts directly translate to reality. I'm here to say no more!
To begin, my goal is to teach students the principles of light (reflection, refraction, distortion) and the mediums (solids, liquids, and gases) that affect them.
Using materials called "Jelly Orbs" and plastic bags, I will demonstrate to students how to make things invisible. When in water, these orbs disappear because they are part water.
Second, art is all around them. I, myself, can see that, but they need me to spice up lesson plans. This is why I am going to blow their minds. Even the most confident student, however, needs their minds blown. They always feel so confident in their understanding of the world which this is an excellent teaching moment.
