Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are working hard to excite students about coming to school every day . Our monthly goal is to have a 96% attendance rate all year long. Your support will allow us to create an environment where students won't want to miss out. I would like to acquire large scale toys that we can use during lunch and for special events. We are teaching our students financial literacy all year long by having them earn Cougar Bucks (school based money). Students earn these dollars every week for their attendance and behavior. Students are learning how to earn money, save, and spend wisely. Every month, we offer events where students can spend their Cougar bucks on unique snacks, pay to play events, buy free dress, and invest in school wide initiatives that maximize their Cougar Bucks. The large toys I am requesting will allow us to have a variety of activities during our lunch time attend to win events. Students will elect to use their Cougar Bucks (which they have earned) to play and compete. Students earn a small prize for participating. Events like these help in building school community, reduce student conflict, increase staff engagement, and overall allow students to have a great time during lunch. Students have buying power when they earn their Cougar Bucks and it teaches them how to save for events they want to participate in. Best of all, they know that they have to follow our 5 principals and attend school to earn Cougar Bucks. Overall, creating a space where they earn "money" based on behavior and attendance, improves student outcome and gives them a sense of the importance of money management. For this reason, attendance is money and when student attend, we all win!
