Our school district spans five rural communities in the Eastern delta region of Arkansas. The area is large, and many students must ride the bus for long periods of time just to get to school. They depend on the school for transportation, food programs, and exposure to all things educational. We are a diverse population brought together for the purpose of learning.
With such diverse economic and cultural backgrounds coming together, our district strives to meet each student where they are and equip them for learning and progressing to the next level.
My Project
A composer may make anywhere from $40-$60,000 according to recruiter.com. These instruments will give my students a hands-on experience in testing the waters as a composer from an early age. They will be able to experiment with melodies, rhythms, learning note names, and even performing their original pieces for each other with these glockenspiels. . Reading about composers and learning about careers in music is an important part of my class, but having these instruments will take the ideas from the page and help them to make their own musical choices and discover their passion for creating, performing, responding, and evaluating work.
