Investigating Genetic Dihybrid Crosses in Wisconsin Fast Plants

Help me give my students the chance to investigate the plant growth process with Wisconsin Fast Plants. Students will learn plant development and genetics to determine the cross between plants while viewing the F1 and F2 generations.

My Project

Students will learn the plant development process by using Wisconsin Fast Plants. They will be given seeds from one parent of the flowers. They will determine the phenotype and genotype of the plant with the stem color and height.

The students will need to determine the other parent's genotype and phenotypes by investigating the cross between the parents to give the F1 generation.

Students will also determine the genes in the F2 generation. Students will use higher-level critical thinking skills to determine the genes of the parent generation. By having these seeds, students can see dihybrid crosses brought to life.
