Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Through our YES (Youth Empowerment Services) program we support students of all different backgrounds with wrap around support. Typically our students are from low income backgrounds, foster youth, or displaced, etc. This means that many of these young adults live in a constant state of high stress which leaves them discouraged, overwhelmed, and stuck in survival mode. We have strived to maintain a space where they feel safe, welcomed, and heard.

With your help we would like to create a calming corner with the bean bag and balance ball chairs, where students can destress and realign themselves for the day.

Mental health is undeniably important, and most do not begin to take action on protecting it until they are much older. Our space is always open to students before school, during breaks, and after school so they can connect with us, and feel like they have somewhere they belong.
