This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our Dolphins are more than just students—they are dreamers, builders, and believers. Every day, in classrooms across Houston, these young hearts walk through school doors carrying endless potential. They are bright, imaginative, and full of questions. They want to learn, to grow, to belong.

But too many of them face barriers no child should.

Poverty. Unsafe neighborhoods. Homes where resources—and sometimes hope—are in short supply. As a result, some of our most precious children fall behind in reading, miss too many days of school, and begin to believe they don’t matter.

Help our students to provide incentives that encourage regular school attendance and academic achievement among our scholars. In Houston's 77026 ZIP code, children face significant challenges:

Educational Struggles: Many students are reading below grade level, a critical issue as those not proficient by third grade are four times more likely to drop out of high school.

Chronic Absenteeism: Missing just two days a month can lead to academic decline and increased dropout rates.

High Crime Rates: Violent crime here is over three times the national average, with a rate of 75.7 compared to 22.7 nationwide .

Your Support Can Make a Difference

By partnering with local businesses and corporations, we aim to offer rewards weekly and quarterly to continue to promote attendance in elementary through high school. We would like to do a raffle for the Nintendo switch for each 4 week cycle that students 95% attendance or higher. We also want to reward our students who meet the demands of academic excellence that our values by having a week of perfect attendance. They would receive a smaller prize like slime, squishies, or other novelty items to encourage those positive habits.
