Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students are curious, creative, and capable! They are always looking for new opportunities to show what they know and have shown great excitement in wanting to explore options both in front of and behind the camera. They want to learn how to shoot a video, write and rehearse lines, set up and tear down lighting equipment, use a clapboard, and even interview others with microphones using the cameras and recorders.

Our first idea is a video newsletter, a mix between SNL, a traditional newscast, and a TV show.

The goal is to facilitate a wide range of experiences related to photos and video. We have very expressive personalities that need an opportunity to be on camera! It would be a unique opportunity with our school in the middle of Culver City, known as the "Heart of Screenland."

It would eventually reach many more students than just my class. This equipment would be utilized with my PBIS team interviews with students and teachers about our campuswide expectations.
