This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My fifth-grade students are working diligently to increase their twenty first century skills and self-esteem. They are highly motivated students in need of higher level thinking opportunities. I am interested in supporting my students to achieve their dreams by helping them access their inner potential.
My students are deserving of the best the world can offer because they are our future!
They are a fun-loving, creative and dedicated group of learners coming from primarily Latino families located in suburban California. Our school has about one thousand students in a PreK-5 environment where free or reduced-price lunch is the standard. We are co-located with a Magnet school on our campus.
My Project
With the realization that computer skills are essential in the 21st century, my students have come to love learning about what Google can offer them. These HP Chromebooks can provide hours of learning and application. Many of my students do not have access to computers at home, so it is necessary to do as much work as they can during their independent time at school.
The first Google digital lesson brought my students much pride and a motivation to learn more.
When they saw their own capabilities, they were amazed! Our curriculum is changing from paper textbooks to online learning. My students need the skills of Google Docs, Google Slides, online assessments, and participation in group projects via the internet to reinforce 21st century skills.
I plan on continuing our studies of Applied Digital Skills from Google, CS First Computer coding using Scratch, and online research in social studies, engineering, and science. Preparing my students for middle school and high school is a priority of mine.
