My students are incredibly hard-working 3rd-5th graders that are performing below grade level in math. These students are pulled out of their homeroom to receive small group instruction. They have diverse learning needs and commonly work better when provided with some type of intervention -- such as an additional, smaller math class.
Some also receive one-on-one targeted intervention that speaks to specific skill deficits during their intervention time.
Our goal in intervention is to accelerate students' learning in order to close the academic gap between them and their peers through small group differentiated instruction. They are awesome kids motivated to learn, and we are working hard to boost their confidence and get them caught up!
My Project
These laptops will help bring technology to our intervention classroom. They will be used for assessment practice, progress monitoring, fact fluency, state assessment goals/practice. Incorporating a technology piece in our intervention block will encourage students' independence and increase their enthusiasm for learning. Key goals for these computers are to engage students in different math-related activities and applications, build their problem-solving and collaboration skills, increase their desire to learn and ultimately extend their understanding of math. Having access to technology will provide more opportunities for students to use a technology-based approach to practice math skills taught within the classroom and prepare for computer assessments. They will also help provide the opportunity for the teacher to work individually or with small, flexible groups to meet the needs of all students.
