This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The learning environment is a key component in the early childhood classroom. A well-organized classroom supports children's ability to make choices, encourages them to explore and use materials well, and teaches them to take increasing responsibility for the classroom. Student interest areas are the foundation for the rest of the learning to take place for our youngest learners.
Building content learning into each area of the classroom is a huge priority for me this year.
The products in this project will provide my classroom with additional interest areas that our classroom is currently lacking. One area will be an indoor/outdoor sand and water table to explore phenomena in physical and earth science. The sand and water table can also be used to regulate when students need a break with sensory materials. The additional indoor table will be used for exploring STEM materials and also provide them with more personal space for individual work activities.
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us learn and grow even more!
