This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I focus on targeted writing throughout the school year to address deficiencies as well as, grade level expectations. Eighth grade writing practice includes a variety of writing modes; expository, argumentative, and persuasive. I love assigning a wide variety of writing assignments to prevent writing from becoming tedious and keeps my students engaged.
Students and I will use these supplies to incorporate many interactive writing activities to improve their writing skills.
Some activities I have planned are journaling, whole class and group writing, and peer editing. Most importantly, their writing process will focus on vocabulary and grammar improvement, sentence development, paragraph building, and essay structure. Since these and many other activities will included teacher modeling, anchor charts, and color coded proofing, the students and I will be able to use the magnetic notebook paper, legal pads, highlighters, and post it notes for this purpose.
I love how students enjoy illustrating and I see how excited they get when they are free to create visual projects from their writing. Some supplies to aid in this are the antique paper and the construction paper. With these and other added supplies they will be able to incorporate activities that will pair illustrating to their writing.
