Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a Title I school. My first grade class is an ICT, which is Integrated Co-Teaching. In our classroom, we have a mix of students with disabilities and general education students. We have an array of abilities in our classroom. Some students are below grade level, and some are approaching grade level. Our students need a lot of word work and word building in order to develop their reading and writing skills. Additionally, these skills will help them become less frustrated in math.
My Project
This project is for a velcro board, which will be used to create a word wall. This will give the students the ability to work with words, in an interactive way, while building their word box. This will in turn help them during reading and writing. The word wall will come to life, as the students place the words on the Velcro, and take them off during reading and writing. Additionally, the word wall will help the students succeed during other content areas such as social studies and science. This project will support all of our students regardless of their reading level and ability.
