Interactive Whiteboard for Dual Language Kindergarteners
Help me give my students a Promethean ActivBoard Touch Interactive whiteboard and Promethean Fixed Height Mobile Stand. My young scholars deserve to have access to engaging technology that supports student engagement and promotes collaboration.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a result of the pandemic, my students have learned how to access technology on individual school devices, but lack collaboration skills. Now that we have returned to the classroom, it is apparent that our classroom has not kept up with the technology that is needed for 21st-century skills. A Promethean ActivPanel Interactive Whiteboard would provide access to engaging, collaborative learning for my young scholars in our high poverty classroom.
Studies show that getting students to actively engage with the academic subject matter rather than having them passively listen improves academic achievement.
This is especially true for my dual language scholars. I have students who are English learners learning English and native English-speaking students who are learning Spanish. The visuals and interactive lessons would help me support different learning styles and enhance student engagement and learning.
Another benefit of having this Promethean ActivPanel Interactive Whiteboard is the ability for technology integration. I would be able to connect my computer, video camera, iPad, and microscopes to aid in instruction. This is an extraordinary opportunity to create a classroom environment where my students with different learning styles can learn from each other. This technology ensures that my students will be able to develop the 21st-century skills that they need in order to succeed in today’s world.
