This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I'm a Special Education teacher. I work in the resource and inclusion setting in Dallas. The kids I work with all require different ways to work with them and that makes them special to me. These kids need someone to get to know them and turn that knowledge into functional ways to make the classroom a better place for them. Some kids fidget and have a lot of energy can greatly improve in class engagement by simply being allowed to stand up. Other kids need visual prompts and using timers and visual schedules can help them during lessons and completing basic tasks. Getting to know what they need is a great part of my job and their unique needs make them special.

My Project

Students can also use camera and Ipad functionalities to make projects and develop their use of technology. Cameras and visual/audio learning activities will be available to students without the limitation of using a desktop as well. Using flexible technology can enrich time with students and provide focused and interactive lessons. Kids are already familiar with tablets but paired with a teacher that understands their learning needs can be a great combination.

The items I requested will provide fun and interactive ways to work with a variety of student from a range of ages.

Using the Ipad with the interactive manipulatives will create engaging activities and opportunities to learn.
