My Students

Today's students are motivated by technology! They love being able to quickly research and look things up on their own.

We are a Title 1 school that is located in an urban area that serves families from many backgrounds and cultures.

The school serves a diverse population where over half of the students are bilingual. Nearly 60% of the students are Hispanic, 17% African-American, and 12% Caucasian. Additionally, 99% of our students qualify for the free and reduced-price lunch program. More than three-fourths of the student population resides in low-income apartment complexes, and many also live in section 8 housing.

Our staff works to fill not only educational needs, but social and emotional needs also. Our students are amazing and try each day to do their very best. Their spirit to learn and become successful inspires me everyday!

My Project

I am asking for Osmo sets that incorporate technology, math, reading and arts. Osmo provides high quality, higher order thinking for students. They will be able to explore shapes, numbers, art and fine motor concepts. The numbers will be used during math rotations and the coding set fits into our science curriculum.

Quoting the Osmo's website - "Osmo's game systems foster social intelligence and creative thinking by opening up the iPad to the endless possibilities of physical play."

Using the Osmo in my classroom will allow me to take my students love of technology and learning and use it to my advantage to reinforce and build the skills my students struggle with.
