My Project
These engaging and interactive stories will play a vital role in fostering early literacy and a love for reading among my young learners.
Mo Willems' beloved characters, such as the Pigeon, Elephant & Piggie, offer simple, repetitive text and relatable scenarios that encourage emergent readers to actively participate in the story.
The humor and expressive illustrations allow students to follow along with ease, building their confidence in decoding words and understanding story structure. With Willems’ books, children will learn key sight words, recognize patterns, and develop comprehension skills through engaging narratives they can’t wait to read again and again.
Hervé Tullet’s books, on the other hand, bring a unique interactive experience that connects reading with action. Books like *Press Here* and *Mix It Up!* prompt children to physically interact with the pages, sparking their imagination while reinforcing important pre-reading skills such as sequencing, following directions, and cause-and-effect. These experiences help students understand the relationship between print and meaning, while keeping them motivated and excited to read.
By incorporating these books into our daily lessons and reading centers, my kindergartners will explore language and literacy in a joyful, hands-on way. The combination of Willems’ accessible stories and Tullet’s creative interaction will not only teach them to read but will also cultivate their love for books, an essential foundation for lifelong learning.
