Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
How would you live every day like it was your first day on Earth? My students said they would observe and explore everything around them in order to learn about and understand the world. They have applied this idea to every day in science class and now exploration and curiosity abound!
My students attend an early college school that serves a low-income community in New York City.
They are motivated to succeed and eager to learn however are often limited by a lack of resources in school. When given the opportunity for interactive and hands-on learning, my students are so excited for and engaged in science!
My Project
These materials will allow the students to see and experience science first-hand and in more fun and engaging ways. The tablets will open opportunities for learning and practicing new concepts through interactive science apps and self-directed exploratory learning. The geology kits will provide students with opportunities to do what scientists do -- observe, study and experiment with actual parts of the natural world!
Having these materials in class will make the science classroom a more interactive environment for the students!
They will get to use the latest technology to learn in new ways and will be able to feel like true scientists as they experiment with rocks and minerals and plate tectonics. Thank you so much for your generosity! You are truly helping to encourage the next generation of students to appreciate science and pursue STEM in their futures.
