My students need OSMO bases and accompanying games to engage them and support their learning. The use of these tech tools by students (individually and independently) allows me to lead small math, reading and writing groups.

My Students
The 19 boys and girls that I am proud to call my students this year come to school each day ready and wanting to learn. They know that I use engaging components of digital instruction in whole group, small group and with individual students to reinforce existing knowledge and add new knowledge.
The students in my classroom are happy and eager-to-learn digital natives who need access to fun, new technology that they can use frequently and consistently each week as a part of small group learning times.
Devices and tech tools that allow my students to create and problem solve are beneficial, engaging and necessary in this day and age. The desired materials for this grant will benefit students in my classroom year after year, increasing the intended impact.
My Project
The use of OSMO game systems (and accompanying games) with our existing classroom iPads will allow my students a different, more spatial and kinesthetic way to learn and practice reading and math concepts. The OSMO base and mirror allow an iPad to display on the screen while students manipulate game pieces on a hard surface directly in front of the screen in an interactive nature. Currently I have one OSMO base/mirror in my classroom of 19 students, so it is not being frequently and consistently used by students. Having a set of OSMO game systems would allow students daily opportunities to use and benefit from the games while allowing me to conduct small math groups because one third of the class will be quietly using OSMOs at a time.
