My Students
My high school students are diverse special education students. They have moderate to severe impairment, but they are a group of students who love to learn and improve their academic and functional skills. They are hardworking and have a lot of potential to be successful in meeting and coping with their special needs. They are motivated to learn and eager to do their best to complete their task. My students enjoy Arts and craft activities in our classroom. They are happy to see their finished products and proudly show and share their work to others.
My students will be starting a new online platform.
During our extended school year learning, they enjoyed accessing boomcard learning materials that are very interactive and adapted to their specific skill levels. They can easily access these materials by clicking the link provided in our Google classroom.
My Project
Providing my special education students with Boom Learning materials for our online class will be truly helpful in what we can accomplish with our students learning in an online platform! Boom cards give students instant feedback on their answers – so students aren’t practicing incorrectly! Every boom card materials can include audio directions for every task. Students can also touch a picture and hear the word pronounced aloud, so there’s no confusion about what an image is supposed to represent. When they use Boom decks, it’s like having a teacher sitting next to them even though they’re working independently or at home! While learning at home, differentiate assignments can be assigned by giving students different decks to work on, depending on their specific skills and/or level needs. Social stories, adapted story books, Reading Comprehension, Math skills and Phonics material using boomcard learning will be very helpful for students to access in a synchronous and asynchronous learning environment.
