Interactive Notebooks

My students need 30 composition notebooks, 5 sets of Cut and Paste Sight Word Sentences, 10 packs of markers, 36 sets of letter cards and glue to create interactive notebooks.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom includes lots of interactive and engaging activities. One way to do this is by using interactive notebooks. These notebooks allow students to be creative and spark conversations about the lesson. By the end of the school year, my students will be excellent readers!

My students are very advanced.

Because of this, they need lots of engagement and hands-on activities. They love working on projects and figuring out solutions to problems. My class loves a challenge! My class is also very creative and artsy. The school I work at is very old and does not have a lot of resources available to teachers or students. There is a lot of funding taking place to raise money at the school throughout the year.

My Project

With interactive notebooks, each student will be able to create a page in their notebook that follows that days reading or phonics lesson. For example, if we are learning about short vowel sounds, each student will be given a cut out of a picture that follows the short vowel sound. The student will also write words that follow the vowel sound. This will help students identify words on their own reading time. Students can also go back and look in their interactive notebook to review the short vowel sounds to help them review.

Interactive notebooks will help students practice their phonics skills which in turn will help them with their reading.

Students need to be engaged when practicing phonics or they will get bored and antsy quickly! The more engaging and hands-on the lesson, the better the phonics lesson sticks in their brains!
