You may be thinking to yourself, "Mrs. Beekman, haven't I seen you here before?" Well, you'd be right! I am continuing to fundraise toward a class set of iPads to be shared with our Art and P.E. classrooms to connect with our tech-savvy students. My students need an iPad and a mobile charging and storage cart to protect the iPads.
Our students are hard-working kids who love to learn.
Sure, we are nestled in the city of Richmond, VA, but you wouldn't guess it if you walked into my room! You'd find yourself transported to a music conservatory full of diverse students composing, choreographing, writing, and growing. With the iPads we have so far, students have been creating their own music, as well as using them to help with reading music and listening skills.
From Preschool students creating their own Percussion rhythms to 3rd graders clapping, practicing, and playing songs on their recorders using interactive music that tracks the notes for them, to 5th graders listening to music to choreograph their own Tiktok dances to classical music, these tablets are doing it all.
We use an online music curriculum called QuaverEd that is full of fun interactive music activities. This iPad will give them access to composing tools, games, interactive quizzes and so much more. I also recently attended training for an awesome tool called Nearpod that my students love to use on their devices.
