Interactive Math Manipulations with Graphing Handhelds -- Part 2
My students need TI-Nspire graphing handheld calculators to manipulate their math.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have come into high school behind grade level, but these students are not quitters. We have a strong culture of achievement and encourage all students to prepare for and apply to college.
Were you to walk down the halls of my school, you might think you are in the United Nations.
We have students from five continents (and more than that number of islands) representing a diverse array of languages and cultures. My students are a mix of new immigrants and native born Americans. All of them want to succeed.
My Project
Some years ago, I was fortunate enough to receive a classroom set of the original TI-Nspire. But after these years with heavy use, they show signs of wear and most need to be replaced. This new model has color, a backlit screen (easier to see relationships) and a rechargeable battery (easier on the environment). I need to replace my old class set with the new units for the new school year. Instruction is more efficient when everyone is working with the same technology. (I have split the whole project into several smaller requests. This is the second of those pieces.)
The goal that drives all my lesson planning is student success.
I've seen how effective the Nspire graphing handheld is in helping students to internalize and fully understand abstract mathematical concepts and relationships. Your contribution will help even the playing field for my students, so they can achieve to their potential in mathematics in high school, and beyond in college.
