Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are enthusiastic about discovering new concepts and improving their math skills. They would greatly benefit from the resources I have selected for this project, particularly since third grade introduces numerous new mathematical ideas. I strongly believe the most effective way to learn is through practice, especially when it's fun and interactive.
Third grade is a challenging year where students encounter a variety of concepts in a short amount of time.
Typically, we cover one lesson per day before moving on to the next. While centers have been beneficial for students to continue practicing their skills, many still require additional time and resources.
Having effective resources for skill practice can truly transform the learning experience. Most students tend to favor Manipulatives or visual aids over merely filling out worksheets at a center. Requiring students to complete worksheets daily is less likely for them to be engaged. In contrast, students thrive when they can participate in games; these enjoyable activities allow them to collaborate with a partner have fun and maintain their focus.
My goal is to provide resources in this project that are both fun and engaging for them to enjoy. I know if my students are doing something they prefer this will enhance their performance and boosts their confidence. To conclude the best way to support their academic success is by offering interactive and enjoyable materials for skill practice during centers.
