Playing games is a favorite activity of both young and old. When playing a game while reinforcing skills in math or reading students are bound to have a great time practicing their skills.
My students are low income, high needs special education students.
They attend a public school in a high poverty district in Idaho. My students are resource special education students in grades K-5 who struggle with reading, math, written language and social skills.
My Project
I am requesting some educaitonal games for use in building and reinforcing basic math and reading skills. Additionally, for the lower grades and lower functioning students I have included some basic games to work on building memory, listening skills and following directions. My hope is that through these games my students will enjoy a creative way to explore concepts they have learned and build better social skills with their peers.
This project is important because students need a variety of ways to learn and build skills.
Many special education students do not succeed in the general education classroom because they need an innovate approach to learning. Educational games can be an additional piece in their success.
