My Project
All students want a chance to become a leader, share their opinion, and even have a chance to become a teacher for a little bit. As an ELA teacher, I have the opportunity to do that with mentor sentences. Mentor sentences are carefully selected examples of strong writing that we can analyze together. They serve as models for students to learn various writing techniques, grammar structures, and stylistic choices.
As a Leader In Me school, we are always finding ways for students to become leaders, and they can do just that using mentor sentences.
When students engage with mentor sentences, they take ownership of their learning process. This sense of ownership can empower them to lead discussions or projects, fostering a sense of responsibility. Analyzing mentor sentences often involves group discussions, promoting teamwork and collaboration. Students learn to listen to others' perspectives and contribute their own, which are essential skills for any leader. As students learn from mentor sentences, they gain confidence in their writing abilities. This confidence can extend to other areas, encouraging them to take initiative and share their ideas in group settings.
By using a whiteboard easel, I can easily display these sentences, allowing for interactive discussions and collaborative learning.
I am excited to share an opportunity that will greatly enhance our classroom learning experience!
A whiteboard easel allows me to write, draw, and illustrate points in real-time, keeping students engaged and involved in the learning process. It will help them see the structure and flow of sentences as we deconstruct and reconstruct them together. The easel can be moved around the classroom, creating a dynamic learning environment where students can gather in small groups for focused instruction.
Together, we can inspire our students to become confident and skilled writers!
