My Students

Where did the chalkboards and worksheets go?! Students today do not learn the same way we did when we were in school. Students now have more technology available to them. This technology enables us to keep them engaged and as a result, learning is more fun, motivating, and meaningful to the student.

I teach all subjects in a 4th grade classroom in rural, northeast Tennessee.

I teach approximately 20 students of varying abilities. Our school serves a high number of students that qualify for free/reduced lunch. My students are hard working and love to participate in activities that gets them moving and keeps them engaged. They love playing educational games and being involved in friendly competition. They work very well together and frequently help and encourage one another in their learning.

My Project

Our class just received a new interactive whiteboard this school year, and we are anxious to use this opportunity to get students more involved in their learning. However, we need more interactive whiteboard activities that will keep our students engaged and motivated. The resources that will be purchased are activities to be used with interactive boards such as ours to increase student achievement in the areas of Reading/Language Arts, Math, and Science. Students will be active in their learning and find learning fun! Several activities are geared to modeling and teaching test taking strategies.

This project will enable students to become more active in the classroom, keep them 100% engaged, and motivate students to take responsibility for their learning and education.

These activities will make learning more meaningful for our students and put the fun back into the classroom!
