My Students
Do you remember sitting in class listening to the teacher talk for 50 straight minutes? What if your were ecouraged to have discussions with your peers through a hands-on interactive creative process? My students need a different way to learn.
I work in a Title I school with a large population of ESL and Special Education students.
My students need visual and hands-on projects to help them grasp the concepts in third grade.
By making units fun and accessible, my students are more engaged and enjoy learning.
My Project
By having students create lapbooks, they are creating a piece of work made by them, while learning the topics we are teaching. Students will create lapbooks that includes all necessary concepts for the unit being taught, in a fun, hands-on, creative and interactive way.
Students will learn not only the topics being taught, but they will see that learning in school can be creative, fun and accessible to all students.
Lapbooks are filled with foldable paper, like origami, where they are required to visually display their learning. This also helps to provide support to foster peer discussions across the unit. The colored file folders, glue sticks, colored paper, markers and fasteners will help the students to take ownership of their learning through creating lapbooks.
