This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a school counselor in an elementary building, I work with students in grades K-5 to support their social-emotional learning, mental health, and overall well-being. My students are curious, resilient, and full of big feelings.
This project will provide an iPad for use in my counseling office during individual and small group sessions.
With this tool, I'll be able to introduce calming apps, interactive SEL games, mindfulness exercises, and digital journals tailored to student needs. It will also allow students to engage in visual learning through short videos, breathing animations, and communication apps for students with limited verbal expression.
My goal is to create a safe, responsive, and engaging space where students feel empowered to express themselves and build lifelong coping skills. With the help of this technology, I can meet my students where they are, whether they need a quiet moment to reset or a fun, interactive way to learn about friendships, feelings, or problem-solving.
What makes my students special is their willingness to show up and try even when life feels hard. They deserve every resource possible to help them grow into kind, confident, and emotionally healthy individuals. This iPad will be a small tool with a big impact.
