This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I'm so lucky to have a class of amazing and inquisitive 5th graders. It makes me so happy to come in each day and watch them question things and grow as learners. In particular, this is not a class that I will soon forget. I am hoping that this upcoming school year will let us remain in person and have as much stability as possible. Many of my students have parents and guardians who are frontline workers so our school has been disproportionately affected by shutdowns and quarantine in the past. Despite that, they carry on with positive attitudes.
My Project
I want to expand my center time to include interactive board games. In the midst of this pandemic, students have become accustomed to online games and materials. While that is fun and the tools have been so valuable during this pandemic, there really is something to be said for physical games that children can play together.
The fact is, while board games are fun, they also serve a higher purpose in developing a child's cognitive skills.
I have intentionally picked out games that are both quick enough to be played during center time as well as intellectually stimulating and fun. I know my group of students will love these games.
