This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Although their circumstances may not be the best, my students come to school every day eager to learn. I teach second grade in Paterson, NJ. Our school is located in an urban community riddled with poverty and crime.
My classroom consists of 10 general education students and 13 English Language Learners.
My ELLs come from multiple different countries and a total of three languages are spoken within our classroom. When my students walk through our classroom doors, they know they are safe, loved, and about to have fun learning!
My Project
I am requesting supplies that my students can use to make center time exciting! We have been lucky enough to receive new iPads, however, we cannot purchase any apps or accessories for it.
The Osmo Kits contains fun-filled & award-winning learning games that interact with actual handheld pieces & an iPad, bringing a child's game pieces & actions to life.
We currently have four genius kits in our classroom, and it is without a doubt our favorite center! I am requesting additional games the students can use daily. The Osmo Detective kit will allow students to run your own detective agency! They will travel to six famous cities, inspect hundreds of clues with your magnifying glass, and learn about geography and cultures around the world. The Osmo Pizza kit will allow students to make pizza, make change, and (hopefully) make profits when you run your very own cartoon pizza shop! The Osmo Little Learners kit will be perfect for my English Language Learners and low level students. It will allow students to use hands-on games to engage them in core subjects.
