My Students

My students are an amazing group of kind hearted and loving first graders. They have an incredible passion for reading and exploring the world around them. They live in an underserved neighborhood of highest poverty. Sadly, our school district does not fund schools evenly and this greatly impacts our class instructional materials. All obstacles aside, my kids show up for school each day with full hearts and an eagerness to learn. I hope to provide them with a love of reading that they can keep with them throughout their lives.

My Project

My students love to read. I aim to make reading fun and accommodating to all students. This interactive bookshelf will help display books so readers can visually see books of their choice. This is perfect for primary classrooms as it makes selecting a book engaging and enjoyable for all my students. Often, standard bookshelves are intimidating for early readers as they hide books' front covers and tightly stack books against one another. Can you imagine how intimidating this must be for an early reader? This particular bookshelf displays books titles and front covers. This will help motivate and inspire young readers to choose books.
