This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach at a large, urban, Title I school and my students come from a working-class community where the majority qualify for free or reduced lunch. Their skill-sets are as diverse as their backgrounds. I have students who are gifted and talented, who are overcoming their learning differences and who are at multiple stages of English language acquisition. They are all hard-working, eager learners who are constantly curious about the world around them. We are a California Gold-Ribbon school that has three magnet schools on one campus, so we receive students from all over the greater Los Angeles area.
A new iPad will help me monitor student engagement and involvement, while also allowing me to move about my classroom, give immediate feedback, and display student work.
Using my Apple TV, the iPad can project directly to the board while my students and I write remotely using the Apple Pencil on the board from the iPad. A new iPad would be a welcome addition to my classroom's pre-existing accommodations to include all types of learners, such as my students who are visual learners, English language learners, and who are differently-abled.
Our magnet has an emphasis on film and media and provides a rigorous academic program to a wide range of learners. As a math teacher, my goal is to inspire my students to view the world's wonders through a mathematical lens and think critically about the world around them. An iPad will help me achieve that goal.
