Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These activities, as well as diffused lighting and alternative seating, will support my new preschool as well as my kindergarten students as they increase their communication skills through interactive play. My students respond best to play-based "floor time" activities, as well as alternate seating opportunities with bean bag chairs, that allow natural movement while engaged in learning tasks. My students prefer low lighting and do best without the harsh overhead lights of the classroom, and the requested floor lamp will help. My students also seem to gravitate towards technology and are highly motivated when given the right tools. Osmo is a great play-based learning platform that will support their communication skills and help them be successful in the future. For example, "The Pizza Company" program will help target non verbal cues. Students will learn how to decipher how customers like their pizza from the facial cues and body language they make as they add toppings to the pizza!
