Mr. Cardwell from New York NY is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need an Interactive Whiteboard to enhance their learning in daily instruction.

In the field of education, there are daily inequities that children from all areas face daily. I teach math every day to 90 5th-graders in a diverse community. Many of these children aspire to enter the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Our school's community is well behind in technology for the advancement of our students. In order for these students to be marketable in STEM field, they need to be exposed to technology at an early age.
"Mr. C, these laptops you fundraised for have definitely helped me succeed on the PARCC test.
You have truly prepared us", stated by a female student who had no interest in mathematics. I strive to incorporate technology in the classroom. So that the future of the students are successful to make sure us adults now are living in a better world.
In my current classroom, I use a dry erase board and expo markers for daily instruction. This out-of-date equipment is not helping students learn abstractly in mathematics. As I do my best to make sure they are on track to become college, career, and real word ready before entering 6th grade, my students are already a step behind other students in the nation. Many public, charter, and private schools have installed interactive whiteboards in their classrooms.
My 5th graders come from diverse backgrounds of English Language Learners, Special Education, Talented and Gifted, and Free and Reduced Lunch.
My goal is to make sure that they have equal opportunities as other students to be just as successful academically. My students will use the interactive whiteboard to develop presentation skills. Also, they will be able to solve, analyze, and explain mathematical standards that require abstract thinking. They will also you the interactive whiteboard as a tool to enhance their learning subconsciously through games that require them to advanced their learning while having fun at the same time.
