Help me give my students a good sharpener, black construction paper, a classroom laminator, a teacherʻs desk chair, and a TPT gift card to do more arts integrated work in our classroom.
My students come from a small, close knit community on an island in the middle of the Pacific ocean. Our island home is a diverse, unique, beautiful place that captures their attention almost everyday and I am hoping to unlock that inspiration in the form of integrated arts in our classroom!
Most of the funding that is available to us teachers in our school are used toward basic school supplies and classroom needs in order to teach the core subjects, but I firmly believe that students should be given the opportunity to experience other subjects like art, music, and gardening.
I plan to use the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card to purchase lessons that integrate the arts into core subjects. The black construction paper is a go-to supply in many of my stand alone and integrated art projects and the laminator is key to keeping their creations protected while they are on display. A new teacher chair will help me sit at my desk comfortably so that I can show the students how to create their projects under the document camera. The pencil sharpener is need to keep our current art supplies sharp. The microwave will replace the old one we currently have which does not even heat things through. When heating certain art materials or supplies for science lessons, things tend to burn and the project/assignment is ruined before it can even begin.
While I am a firm believer in the importance of core subjects, I also know the value of arts as well and I canʻt wait to bring this balance to my classroom.
