This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My preschool students are children who are three to five years of age. My school is in sunny California where children come to school each morning ready to learn and grow! There's never a dull moment in our class. My students are busy bees moving from one interest area to another. They're eager to learn, explore, engage and experiment with the instructional materials and centers I set up for them. My students need instructional materials to engage with and foster their interest in technology, literacy, math, science, art, and engineering. They also, need instructional materials to support their social and emotional learning, to help them grow into well rounded individuals. Every single one of my students deserves a fair chance at having his or her potential nurtured and fully developed. My little ones have an insatiable curiosity, that's why it's important for me to have a class with a variety of instructional materials to meet their educational needs.

My Project

We live in the digital 21st century, the use of technology in the classroom is of utmost importance. Combining the arts with technology in the classroom will create new and exciting ways to keep my students motivated and engaged in the learning process.

The iPad Pro will help facilitate alternative avenues for creative expression such as using software to create digital art.

The Drawing For Children software and the Tux Paint applications will be used by the kids to create art and take pictures for their investigation study books. Furthermore, the tablet will be used to expand, enrich, implement, individualize, differentiate and extend the overall curriculum to meet each child's educational needs. Science goals for example such as learning about the habitat of animals, endangered animals, recycling, trees, life cycles, weather and seasons can be augmented by using specific developmentally appropriate instructional web sites, software and applications. Through the use of technology each child's learning abilities and disabilities will be taken into consideration as well as their different learning styles, the use of developmentally appropriate apps will facilitate retention and learning of the many topics being taught.

In addition, my preschoolers have difficulty sitting still for long periods, they are extremely active, with the iPad Pro I will access a variety of music and movement videos, dance songs, physical activity videos to meet their large and gross motor needs.

The iPad pro will be used in the computer center as one of many equally valued learning centers in my classroom.
